Hans Jain, President, is on a mission to illuminate urban neighbourhoods, energize historic landmark buildings and set communities aglow with sophisticated modern buildings. As the President of Atria, Hans is the driving force behind the company’s success in merging the character and elegance of the past with the sleek urban design of the present – creating communities of the future.
Hans shares his father Gyan’s passion for development. He has worked tirelessly to build Atria’s reputation by dealing with the company’s partners, purchasers and renters ethically and with integrity. As President, Hans is directly involved with an experienced team in all stages of the development life cycle: from land acquisition and assembly, planning and approvals (COA, OMB/LPAT), financing, design, engineering and construction management, sales and marketing, to occupancy and long-term leasing and property management.
Career milestones include leading the regeneration of Toronto’s burgeoning Leslieville neighbourhood with the successful launches of i-Zone and the Garment Factory Lofts; and completing Parkwood Residences, the first condominium project that downtown Oshawa had seen in nearly 20 years – all developments that saw existing buildings being converted into residential spaces. Recently Atria has completed a 239 unit modern purpose built rental and the second phase consisting of 370 units is under construction. In Peterborough, an the historic YMCA built in 1895 has seen an extensive renovation and will see 136 apartments lofts ready for rent this summer. Hans continues to lead Atria throughout the many exciting projects currently under development.
Hans graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours B.Sc. in Quantitative Methods in Economics, and pursued Graduate Studies in Economics at the University of Toronto.
Hitesh Gajiwala P. Eng., Director of Engineering & Construction, has over 30 years of progressive and comprehensive experience in engineering, construction, management of new construction, the renovation of high-rise and low rise residential and commercial development, as well as key public infrastructure projects.
Hitesh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with First Class Honors in Elective Specialization in Advanced Structural Mechanics and Concrete Technology & Structure. He has extensive knowledge of government regulations, occupational safety (OSHA) and the Ontario Building Code. He is a proud member of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
For Atria Construction Management, Hitesh oversees all operations and sets the strategic vision of the firm. He is currently working on over 5 million sq. ft. of residential rental apartments, new and retrofit condominiums and lofts, commercial and retail – all in various stages of development.
Marc Chiasson, Director of Construction, for over a decade was a senior site superintendent for a number of key developments in the city of Toronto for Daniels Corporation. He has overseen projects with a combined budget of over half a billion dollars. From the City of the Arts in Queens Quay East to the prestigious 65-storey TIFF Bell Lightbox, home to the world-renowned Toronto International Film Festival, Marc has helped supervise the construction of some of Toronto’s most striking buildings. His earlier work included the construction of two residential retrofit condominium loft projects.
His work on Block 25 in Toronto’s Regent Park neighborhood found Marc working on one of the largest and most important revitalizations of community housing in the city. These large-scale projects involve great responsibility as well as urgency and an innate ability to work in coordination with other key stakeholders.
Starting with initial blueprints and shop drawings, through to scheduling, budgeting and time management, coordinating with the trades and almost every aspect of a safe and effective site is under Marc’s purview. It’s a role that he takes with a great deal of pride and responsibility.
Shane Kennedy, Associate Director of Development, has 15 years of industry experience covering a broad range of asset classes and locations around Ontario and Canada.
With a B. Sc. (Hons) in Construction Management, Shane initially worked for a large General Contractor in Dublin, Ireland, building rental apartments.
Shane brings extensive experience in capital and hard cost budgeting, tendering, contracting and procurement of residential condominiums, purpose built apartments and seniors housing.
Dan Phillips, Assistant Site Supervisor, brings almost 30 years of residential construction experience to Atria CM. Following an initial career as a carpenter, Dan went on to become one of the leading construction professionals in historical and heritage restoration.
Dan currently works at our “Y Lofts” in Peterborough, supervising the restoration of an 1895 YMCA heritage building which forms part of a $47 million redevelopment in the downtown core.
Ashley Austin, Site Administrator, had a 13-year career with the Daniels Corporation prior to joining Atria Construction Management. Ashley provides logistical and planning support to our Construction Managers and assists with the coordination of the work on site.
Ashley is also responsible for document and record management, the distribution of Site Instruction and Shop drawings, Site Safety management and the coordination with building inspectors.
Danielle Chiasson, Project Coordinator, joined Atria with 15 years of experience working for a diverse group of companies, most recently The National Ballet of Canada. An experienced project manager with proven success working within tight budgets, short timelines and constantly changing conditions, Danielle brings a wide range of skills to her role as Project Coordinator for Atria Construction Management.
Shawn Sexton, Site Supervisor, has over 25 years of progressive construction experience working for top-tier companies across the GTA, plus international experience in the US, Bermuda and Spain. Shawn has spearheaded a wide variety of projects from modest in size up to massive, multi-million-dollar initiatives.
Shawn’s track record of success spans various residential and ICI projects. His responsibilities include coordinating trades, and building positive rapport with architects, engineers, local officials, vendors and clients while maintaining costs. Shawn is also well-versed in contract negotiations, project estimating, impending design problems, document preparation, building code and regulations, material purchasing and site management through certification of occupancy.
Additionally, Shawn is a skilled carpenter with an on-the-ground understanding of the construction industry, resulting in high-quality workmanship and major client satisfaction across the board.

The Garment Factory Lofts house 150 suite with exposed concrete ceilings, polished concrete floors and large warehouse windows, adding much natural light to these open concept units. The new suites in this Toronto loft are stepped back, which allows spacious terraces with views of the neighbourhood and the city skyline.
